Since the pandemic started I have been seeking assurance on behalf of the public that Humberside Police are able to maintain the services that people rely upon on a day-to-day basis as well as policing the new lockdown rules, whilst protecting themselves and those that they come into contact with. I have stressed to the force how vital it is that they work with our communities to achieve what is required in a manner that creates support when this ends. I have also ensured a flow of information to the public about how the police are responding.
I’ve also been working with drug and victim services I commission to ensure they are capable of responding to changes in the profile of vulnerability due to the lockdown. We have just launched a social media campaign using targeted messages to inform and encourage those suffering to come forward and seek support. I addition as Chair of the Local Criminal Justice Board I am working to identify stresses and ensure agencies can quickly resume a more effective service.
